[分子式与分子量] BFⅡFeO(OH)． XH20；88．85(无水物)
[来源与制法] 先用碱液中和硫酸亚铁，并经氧化制得铁黄品种。将晶种、铁屑、硫酸亚铁、硫酸投入反应器中，调整亚铁含量和酸度后，通蒸汽升温氢化，经水洗、过滤、干燥、粉碎而得。
[性状]本显为黄色、无臭的粉末。对光、大气稳定，耐碱不耐酸。加热脱水生成氧化铁红。不溶于水和有机溶剂，溶于酸。遮盖力高，着色力强。 C作用与用途) 本晶色泽从柠檬黄至橙黄，且着色力强，在制药工业中主要用于片剂包衣和胶囊剂等的着色。本品也为食品添加剂，在食品工业中用于一些糖衣食品的着色。在日化工业中，本品也用于化妆品的着色。
[配伍变化] 除热强酸外，化学性质稳定。
[安全性] 本品无毒，对皮肤和粘膜无刺激性，一般公认是安全的，每日允许摄入量为0—0．5mg／kg(FAO／WHO，1985)。
